Mumlava Waterfalls

One of the most attractive places in the area are the Mumlavské vodopády (Mumlava Waterfalls), located about 3 kilometers from Harrachov. The waterfalls are one of the largest natural attractions in the Krkonoše Mountains and visiting them is an unforgettable experience for nature lovers. The path to the waterfalls is relatively easy and leads through beautiful mountain terrain, making it an ideal activity for families with children or beginners. You will start the trip from the center of Harrachov, heading towards the Mumlava stream. The path goes through a pleasant forest and after a while, you will reach the first waterfall, which is also the largest and most impressive. You will continue along the stream and pass by other smaller waterfalls and cascades, creating a unique and picturesque scenery. After exploring the waterfalls, you can return to Harrachov along the same path or continue further to visit nearby places like the Labe Springs or even embark on a hike to the highest mountain in the Czech Republic – Sněžka. This mammoth ski jump is among the 5 largest ski jumps in the world. If you feel like taking a short morning walk, we recommend a walk along the Harrachov ponds. As part of the revitalization of the ponds for water retention in the landscape, a new tourist circuit was created in the Anenské Valley along the educational trail Rybárna. The trail will take you to the places that gave the trail its name – the Harrachov ponds. The ponds were established by Count Harrach in 1873 for trout breeding. The trail starts and ends at the former school in the Anenské Valley – opposite the Resident. The newly reconstructed educational trail Rybárna is 1.5 km long and leads along the route. Wooden interactive boards introduce you to topics related to what lives and grows in the ponds and their surroundings. The trail is suitable for hiking, for families with children, and is accessible even for more active moms with strollers. If you’re looking for a little adrenaline rush, there is a bobsled track for you. It is about 1,000 meters long, with a 38-meter elevation, an average slope of 6%, and a maximum slope of 12%. It has 17 turns and two attractive above-ground crossings. You definitely won’t be bored here. When you’ve had enough of the mountains during your visit to Harrachov and feel like a bit of culture, entertainment, and learning, you can visit the exhibitions of the Mining Museum, which includes a publicly accessible underground tour. The Mining Museum and underground tour in Harrachov opened in March 2003 at the level of the former mine floor. The museum showcases samples of fluorite mineral deposits, tools and equipment used in mining, maps, and photographs documenting work in the local deposit. The underground tour is approximately 1 km long. The route passes through a typical ore mine environment. It is filled with gravel and illuminated, with an average annual temperature of 7°C. Visitors are provided with protective helmets and will see mining carts, battery-operated locomotives, mining loaders, and more. The guided tour lasts 45 minutes (visitors explore the museum on their own before entering the tour of the mine) and visitors will learn about the work in mines that no longer exist today. After a full day of activities, you can relax at one of the local cafes or restaurants and gather strength for new adventures. A full-day trip around Harrachov is a great way to explore the beauty of the Krkonoše Mountains and experience unforgettable moments. You will certainly not be bored and will leave with many new experiences and memories.
